BREAKING: CRS Hits 2025 Low of 515 in Surprise Express Entry Draw (5,000 Invites)
Just when we thought IRCC was done for the holidays, they pulled a fast one.
Breaking their usual schedule, the government just issued a surprise mid-week draw of 5,000 invitations. And the news gets better: The score has dropped again.
At 515, this is the lowest cutoff score we have seen for CEC candidates in all of 2025. If you were sitting at 516 or 518 and feeling hopeless last week, check your profile immediately.
1. The “December Blitz” is Real
We are witnessing an unprecedented “clearing of the decks” by IRCC.
-
Dec 10: 6,000 Invites (Score 520)
-
Dec 11: 1,000 Healthcare Invites (Score 476)
-
Today (Dec 17): 5,000 Invites (Score 515)
Total: 11,000 CEC candidates invited in just 7 days. This aggressive pace confirms that IRCC is rushing to hit its 2025 targets before the New Year. They are digging deeper into the pool than they have all year.
2. Why the Score Dropped to 515 (The Reality Check)
A score of 515 is accessible, but don’t be fooled—it is still competitive. To hit 515, a typical candidate usually needs a “Hybrid Profile.”
-
Pure Canadian Experience? Unlikely. A Bachelor’s + 3 Years Canadian Experience usually caps at 496.
-
The “Bridge” to 515: Most candidates invited today likely combined their Canadian experience with 1+ years of Foreign Work Experience or French Proficiency to cross the 500-point barrier.
3. The “Foreign Work” Trap (Read Carefully)
Because 515 often requires claiming Foreign Work Experience, this draw carries a hidden risk.
-
The Danger: Canadian reference letters are easy to verify. Foreign letters are not. If you claimed 1 year of foreign work to get those extra 13-25 points, the officer will audit that letter strictly.
-
The Consequence: If your foreign letter is vague, lacks pay stubs, or doesn’t match your NOC code exactly, the officer will remove the points. Your score drops from 515 to ~490. Application Refused.
4. Peel Region Focus
If you are working in Logistics, Tech, or Admin in Mississauga/Brampton and have previous experience from back home, this draw was made for you. Check your profile immediately. This likely saved you from needing an LMIA.
How Cambria Law Secures Your PR
Getting an ITA is exciting, but relying on Foreign Experience points is risky. One small error in your Foreign Reference Letter can lead to a refusal.
At Cambria Law, we offer a specialized “Post-ITA Audit”:
1. The “Foreign Reference” Verification
Immigration officers often call foreign employers to verify duties.
-
We Verify: We audit your foreign reference letters to ensure they meet the specific NOC/TEER Code requirements and are backed by sufficient proof (tax records/pay slips) to survive an officer’s review.
2. The “Gap” Calculation
Did you claim 1 year of foreign work but took a 2-week break?
-
We Calculate: We count the exact days of qualifying work to ensure you meet the threshold. Being one day short can cost you the ITA.
3. The “Bridge” to Permanent Status
If your current work permit is expiring soon, you cannot afford a gap in status.
-
We Protect: We file your Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) immediately after submitting your PR application, allowing you to keep working in Mississauga without interruption.
Do not risk your future on a paperwork error. Let us handle the legal details so you can focus on your future.
