Ontario Conducts Sweeping Regional OINP Draws on March 25, 2026: What You Need to Know

By Harkiran Singh Sidhu March 25, 2026

In a major push to address targeted regional labour shortages across the province, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) conducted a series of massive draws on March 25, 2026.

Unlike general draws that cover the entire province, this round of invitations was highly specific, targeting candidates who hold valid job offers in defined regions, including Eastern, Northern, Southwestern, Central Ontario, and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

For many candidates, the ultimate goal is securing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) through express entry canada. However, relying solely on your base score in the federal pool can be unpredictable. Securing a provincial nomination through an OINP Employer Job Offer stream is incredibly valuable because it provides a massive 600-point boost to your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This boost virtually guarantees you will be selected in the next federal Express Entry draw, making a regional job offer one of the most strategic and reliable routes to permanent residency.

Here is a full breakdown of the March 25 regional draws.

The Employer Job Offer Streams Explained

All invitations issued on March 25 fell under the OINP’s Employer Job Offer category. This category is divided into three distinct streams:

  • Foreign Worker Stream: For skilled workers in NOC TEER categories 0, 1, 2, or 3.

  • International Student Stream: For recent graduates of eligible Ontario institutions.

  • In-Demand Skills Stream: For workers in specific in-demand sectors, such as agriculture, construction, and personal support work (like NOC 44101 – Home support workers). This stream historically features lower score cut-offs to reflect urgent, specialized labour needs.

Regional Draw Breakdown

1. Southwestern Ontario Southwestern Ontario saw the largest volume of targeted invitations, with 251 ITAs issued.

  • Foreign Worker Stream: Minimum score of 53.

  • International Student Stream: Minimum score of 81.

  • Targeted Occupations: Heavy emphasis on healthcare professionals (nurses, physicians, sonographers), financial and administrative managers, and specialized manufacturing supervisors.

2. Central Ontario (Excluding the GTA) The OINP issued 199 ITAs to candidates with job offers in Central Ontario.

  • Foreign Worker Stream: Minimum score of 55.

  • International Student Stream: Minimum score of 82.

  • In-Demand Skills Stream: Minimum score of 32.

  • Targeted Occupations: Invitations spanned all three streams, heavily targeting regional economic growth sectors, including home support workers, healthcare staff, and trades.

3. Eastern Ontario A total of 174 ITAs were issued for the Eastern Ontario region.

  • Foreign Worker Stream: Minimum score of 57.

  • International Student Stream: Minimum score of 83.

  • In-Demand Skills Stream: Minimum score of 34 (specifically targeting NOC 44101).

  • Targeted Occupations: Human resources professionals, healthcare workers, and computer/information systems managers.

4. Northern Ontario For Northern Ontario, 57 ITAs were issued.

  • Foreign Worker Stream: Minimum score of 54.

  • International Student Stream: Minimum score of 80.

  • Targeted Occupations: Supply chain supervisors, power engineers, construction inspectors, and healthcare workers tailored to the specific needs of northern communities.

5. Greater Toronto Area (GTA) While the GTA is often excluded from regional pilot programs, the March 25 draw specifically targeted highly skilled talent within the region (including Durham, Halton, Peel, Toronto, and York).

  • Foreign Worker Stream: Minimum score of 61.

  • International Student Stream: Minimum score of 90.

  • Targeted Occupations: The GTA draw was strongly prioritized toward the tech and engineering sectors (Software engineers, web developers, computer systems programmers) as well as critical healthcare roles.

Strict Deadlines: What to Do If You Received an ITA

If you were fortunate enough to receive an invitation on March 25, the clock is already ticking. The OINP imposes incredibly strict deadlines for these streams:

  1. Employer Requirements: Your employer has just 14 calendar days to review the employer guide, complete their portion of the paperwork, and submit their application. For the March 25 draw, this means the employer paperwork is due by approximately April 8, 2026.

  2. Applicant Requirements: As the candidate, you must submit your complete application and processing fee through the OINP e-Filing Portal within 17 calendar days of receiving your ITA, meaning your final deadline is approximately April 11, 2026.

Missing these deadlines or uploading incorrect documentation will result in your application being returned, and you will lose your chance at a provincial nomination from this draw.
